Reading Apps for Kids

This week I was challenged to identify different types of apps to help children with reading fluency and comprehension. Through my research I discovered K12 Inc and their mobile applications site: http://www.k12.com/mobile-apps. Beyond apps for reading, K12 Inc. has a long list of apps for mathematics and some science. Definitely a company to checkout.

iStoryBooks has a free application of short stories read aloud to the user. The free stories are targeted towards Kindergarten levels of reading and could be a good resource to use when creating independent centers in your classroom.
