November 2020

Updated: Dec 19, 2020

Where am I?

Placencia, Belize and a bunch of Cayes nearby

November was a busy month socially. I went on two excursions to Ranguana and Ray Cayes, a group of us enjoyed a sunset cruise on a cool pontoon boat, and I enjoyed a wonderful week long vacation sailing around a dozen nearby cayes. There was a lot of great snorkeling and eating tons of gourmet foods.

Estimated Expenses & Goals My goal was to spend $2,500 USD however, that did not include the vacation I decided to add in.

Let's look at the numbers:

Total Expenses: $4,856.28 USD

Largest Expense - Entertainment: I went on the most amazing vacation for Thanksgiving on a private, all inclusive, catamaran sailing cruise with a company called, Tradewinds. Highly recommend!! We visiting about a dozen different Cayes off of the Placencia peninsula and along the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. To see photos and information about each caye visited, view my blog Facebook page for daily activities and more: https://www.facebook.com/asuitcaseandasmile.

2nd Largest Expense - Rent: Not much to say here besides, I love my new place.

Savings Rate

My business expenses were higher this month so I had a negative savings rate of -144%. The good news, my annual average savings rate is at 73%, which I'm very happy about.

What do I do with my savings?

I'm focusing on increasing my investments with QQQ, VTI, IYH, and now I'm buying ARKK.

What have I learned?

  1. I really enjoy snorkeling! I saw the most beautiful marine life and decided to invest in my own set of snorkel gear.

  2. I'm getting super close to reaching my CoastFI number. I'll reach it in January and I'm highly considering the options of "coasting" come the beginning of February. This will be a major shift from wealth accumulation to coasting into financial independence. If you're not familiar with CoastFI, check out this article: https://thefioneers.com/coast-financial-independence-calculator/.

December Goals

My financial goals for December is to spend $3,300 or less. This number will be exceeded if I have the chance to take another week long vacation for Christmas or New Years; and it'll totally be worth it.
